I love to create quilts. Although they are time consuming to make and assemble, I simply take any theme or memory in creating the quilt and use as much scrap fabric I have available making the quilt a memory in its very existence assembled with a nostalgic trip down memory lane depending on the fabrics used. This process makes the best use small pieces of fabric that could otherwise end up in the trash.
My daughter had a great love of dragons in her early teenage years and also had a variety of fandoms she followed. I created my own version of popular characters, added a few of my own creations and came up with one very interesting quilt using a variety of fabrics, laces, textures and embellishments. It’s a tactile treasure and pays homage to a part of my daughter’s childhood and my sewing portfolio history.
I love the process of creating this memory for my daughter and have found quilting to be a very rewarding way to express myself through my art.
